Membrane corner plate assembly
Corner plate with clamp, edge-cable lugs, U-bolt and bolts: the full corner of a tensile shade.
The membrane corner plate is where the fabric, the edge cables and the structure meet. The fabric corner is clamped between steel plates with bolts; the two edge cables arrive on each side and are fixed through lugs or wire cups with threaded ends and nuts; and a hole or lug at the tip connects to the mast or tie-back through a fork, shackle, turnbuckle or U-bolt. A well-made corner spreads the load so the fabric does not tear, and lets the installer adjust each cable separately.
Also called tensile corner plate, membrane corner fitting, fabric corner plate set
Where it is used
- Corners of tensile membrane shades and hypar sails
- Parking shade and school shade corners
- Re-fabricing jobs where the old corner plate is reused or replaced
- Mast-head and low-anchor corners
Materials and sizes
Plates commonly in hot-dip galvanized or painted steel, or stainless steel 304/316; bolts, U-bolts and nuts in galvanized or stainless to match. Shape and plate size follow the corner angle and the design; made on request.
Questions about this part
Can I reuse the old corner plates when I change the fabric?
Often yes, if the plates and bolts are not bent or badly rusted. Send photos of each corner and we tell you what can stay and what to replace.
Why does fabric tear at the corner?
The corner carries the highest load. Tears usually come from a clamp that is too small, sharp plate edges, uneven cable tension or worn fittings. A correct plate, smooth edges and balanced tension protect the fabric.
Galvanized or stainless corner plate?
Hot-dip galvanized or painted steel is the common, economical choice in Riyadh. Stainless is chosen for a cleaner look on visible corners, or near pools, fountains and the coast.
