Steel wire rope (galvanized / stainless)
Galvanized or stainless wire rope, by the metre or made to length with ends pressed.

Wire rope is made of steel wires twisted into strands, and strands twisted around a core. The construction is written as strands × wires: 7x7 is fairly stiff and suits straight edge and tie-back cables; 7x19 has more, finer wires and bends more easily; 6x19 is a heavier general-purpose rope. In shade and tensile structures the rope forms the edge cables and tie-backs that carry the fabric load to the steel. The right diameter and construction come from the design, and the end fittings must match the rope.
Also called wire rope, steel cable, stainless cable, galvanized cable, 7x7 / 7x19 / 6x19 rope
Where it is used
- Edge cables of tensile membranes and sails
- Tie-back and guy cables to anchors
- Parking shade perimeter cables
- Cable façades, trellis and bracing
Materials and sizes
Commonly available in galvanized steel and in stainless steel 304/316, in constructions such as 7x7, 7x19 and 6x19. Common diameters on request, sold by the metre or made to length with pressed ends.
Questions about this part
Stainless or galvanized wire rope for Riyadh sun and dust?
Both are used in Riyadh. Galvanized is economical and fine for most shades in a dry inland climate. Stainless 304 keeps a cleaner look for longer on visible cables, and 316 is the better choice near pools, fountains, the coast or salty water.
7x7 or 7x19?
7x7 is stiffer and suits straight edge and tie-back cables. 7x19 is more flexible and suits cables that run around curves or pulleys. For the same diameter, follow the design for strength.
Do you cut and press the rope to length?
Yes. Our factory cuts wire rope to length and presses threaded, eye or fork terminals, or a thimble eye, on its hydraulic press.
