Swaged eye terminal
Pressed eye end on wire rope, ready to pin to a plate, shackle or turnbuckle.
A swaged eye terminal is a solid steel eye pressed onto the end of a wire rope. The flat eye is held by a pin or bolt through a corner plate, a shackle, a lug welded to the steel, or the fork of a turnbuckle. Because the eye is machined, not bent from the rope, it is compact and tidy, which suits visible cables on shades and canopies. Eye ends are a common choice where the cable is fixed and the adjustment is made by a turnbuckle or a threaded end on the other side.
Also called eye end, swage eye, eye terminal assembly
Where it is used
- Fixed end of an edge or tie-back cable
- Connecting a cable to a shackle or turnbuckle fork
- Pinning a cable to a lug on the steel post

Materials and sizes
Commonly available in stainless steel 304 or 316. Eye size and pin hole follow the rope diameter; common sizes on request.
Questions about this part
Swaged eye or a rope eye with thimble and ferrule?
A swaged eye is neater and more compact, good for visible stainless work. A rope eye with a thimble and ferrule is quicker and more economical, and is common on galvanized rope and site work. Both need the right press and the right size.
Can I order a cable with an eye on one end and a thread on the other?
Yes, mixed ends are normal. Tell us the length and the end type for each side and we prepare the assembly at our factory.
